The team had some success over the years, including winning three Super Bowl championships in 1982, 1987, and 1991. However, the team also faced controversy over its name, which was considered by many to be a racial slur against Native Americans. In 2020, the team changed its name to the Washington Football Team while considering a new permanent name and became the Washington Commanders in 2022.
