Temple of the Dog was a musical collaboration between members of two famous Seattle-based bands, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. The group formed in 1990 as a tribute to Andrew Wood, the lead singer of Mother Love Bone who had passed away from a drug overdose. The members of Temple of the Dog wrote and recorded songs for a self-titled album, which was released in 1991. The album was a critical success and helped to establish the grunge sound that was popular in the early 1990s. The band disbanded after the album’s release, but its members continued to perform with their respective bands.
