Pantera was an American heavy metal band formed in 1981. The band consisted of vocalist Phil Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell, bassist Rex Brown, and drummer Vinnie Paul. Pantera is widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative bands in the history of heavy metal, known for their aggressive, heavy sound and high-energy live performances. Their music blended elements of thrash metal, groove metal, and Southern rock, and the band’s later albums incorporated more melodic and experimental elements. Pantera released nine studio albums during their career, including the critically acclaimed “Cowboys from Hell,” “Vulgar Display of Power,” and “Far Beyond Driven.” The band disbanded in 2003, following the tragic murder of Dimebag Darrell while performing on stage with his other band, Damageplan.
