Albertus MT Std by Monotype is a font based on the title logo from the TV show Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Albertus is a serif typeface designed by Berthold Wolpe in the 1930s for Monotype. Named after Albertus Magnus, a medieval philosopher, the font combines classical and modern elements. Its unique design features sharp, flared serifs and uppercase letters with a carved, chiseled appearance, reminiscent of inscriptions on stone. Albertus is often associated with a timeless and dignified aesthetic, making it popular for book covers, signage, and branding. It gained additional recognition for its use in media, notably in the 1960s British TV series The Prisoner.
The Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi is a live-action Star Wars spin-off exploring the titular Jedi Master’s journey between the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV – A New Hope. Premiering in May 2022, the show stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. The series delves into Obi-Wan’s exile on Tatooine, where he watches over a young Luke Skywalker while grappling with the guilt of failing Anakin Skywalker, his former apprentice.
The story is set against a backdrop of Imperial oppression and the rise of the Inquisitors, a group tasked with hunting Jedi. Featuring intense lightsaber duels, emotional confrontations, and rich character development, Obi-Wan Kenobi bridges key narrative gaps in Star Wars lore. Praised for its performances, especially McGregor’s portrayal, the series delivers nostalgia and fresh insights for fans of the saga.
