MAD Magazine is a satirical magazine that was first published in 1952. It was founded by editor Harvey Kurtzman and publisher William Gaines, and became known for its humorous parodies of popular culture, politics, and social norms. The magazine featured iconic cartoon characters like Spy vs. Spy, and often poked fun at celebrities and politicians. MAD Magazine was especially popular during the 1960s and 70s, and influenced generations of comedians, writers, and artists. In 2019, after 67 years and 550 issues, MAD Magazine ceased publication of new content, although its back catalog is still available in reprints and digital form.
