Futura Pro Extra Bold by Linotype is a font based on the Beatles album Let It Be.
Let It Be, the final studio album released by The Beatles, marked the end of an era for John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Released on May 8, 1970, shortly after their breakup, the album captures a band at a crossroads, blending moments of raw energy with poignant reflection. Featuring iconic tracks like McCartney’s soulful “Let It Be” and “The Long and Winding Road,” Harrison’s meditative “I Me Mine,” and Lennon’s understated “Across the Universe,” the record highlights each member’s unique contributions. Originally conceived as a back-to-basics project titled Get Back, the sessions were fraught with tension, later chronicled in the accompanying documentary film. The movie offered an unvarnished look at the band’s creative struggles and camaraderie during their final days together. While Phil Spector’s orchestrations on some tracks stirred controversy, the album remains a testament to The Beatles’ enduring artistry, closing their legacy with a bittersweet note of reflection.
