The show follows the adventures of astronaut John Crichton, who is accidentally transported to a distant part of the galaxy and finds himself aboard a living spaceship called Moya. Crichton is joined by a group of escaped prisoners who are also onboard Moya, including the Luxan warrior D’Argo, the priestess Zhaan, the nebari thief Chiana, the hybrid Pilot, and the deposed ruler of the Peacekeepers, Scorpius.
The series is known for its unique blend of science fiction, humor, and character-driven drama, as well as its extensive use of practical effects and puppetry. The show also features a range of imaginative and inventive aliens and creatures, many of which were created by the Jim Henson Company.
