Chimaira was an American heavy metal band that was formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1998. The original lineup consisted of vocalist Mark Hunter, guitarists Jason Hager and Rob Arnold, bassist Jim LaMarca, drummer Andols Herrick, and keyboardist Chris Spicuzza.

Chimaira’s music was characterized by a blend of groove metal, death metal, and metalcore, with a strong emphasis on powerful riffs, intricate melodies, and aggressive vocals. Their lyrics often dealt with personal struggles, societal issues, and philosophical themes.

The band released their debut album, “Pass Out of Existence,” in 2001, which was well received by fans and critics alike. They followed it up with a string of successful albums, including “The Impossibility of Reason,” “Chimaira,” and “Resurrection.”

Chimaira was also known for their energetic and intense live shows, which often featured elaborate stage setups and pyrotechnics.

The band experienced several lineup changes over the years, with Mark Hunter being the only constant member throughout the band’s existence. After releasing seven studio albums, Chimaira announced their disbandment in 2014, citing creative differences and personal issues among the members.
